Our Teaching Philosophy
Our program nurtures the whole child by meeting each individual's unique needs. We prioritize plenty of space for child-led and centered learning. It is our role as educators to be fully present with each child’s experience while engaging their curiosity and allowing them to lead the way of their learning. Our curriculum is emergent - open ended, flexible, and intentionally guided by the children's emerging interests. We believe that true learning is most deeply experienced when it is joyous, child-led, and full of play and exploration. As a parent-run cooperative school we partner with caregivers to foster a nurturing learning environment for everyone involved.
Our curriculum is built around the rhythms and routines of place. Our classrooms are located on the occupied traditional tribal lands of Coast Salish peoples, specifically Kikiallus, Stillaguamish, Tulalip and others who have tended the land for time immemorial. Many of our teachings are rooted in and honor indigenous knowledge.
